Learner Facilitator Course 1Since inclusive education is a reality in our education system, the need for trained and effective learner facilitators at school is growing fast. Schools and parents find that children with special needs and behaviour difficulties often can not manage the mainstream school system without the support and guidance of an effective facilitator. With the necessary and essential input of a well-equipped facilitator, children can reach their optimal potential and often also attain independence.
This course will equip you with the necessary skills to manage difficult behaviours and to facilitate a child with special needs, in a school. It is a practical course that teaches management techniques and a positive approach to education, looks at behavioural motivations and principles, the needs of children who needs facilitators, setting goals for children and adapting their educational needs, effective communication with children, their parents and the school. Teachers would also benefit from acquiring skills to manage difficult and disruptive classroom behaviours. The course is compiled and presented by a clinical psychologist working with children for 27 years.
Learner Facilitator Course 2The Learner Facilitation Course 2 is steered towards Learner Facilitators that have already completed the previous Learner Facilitator Course 1 and have been working in die field of facilitating special needs children. The course builds on previous acquired skills and broaden your abilities, proficiency and techniques to be better equipped to do remedial interventions, adapting worksheets, utilising specific tactics for specific needs, do IEP’s (Individual Education Programs), efficient behaviour analysis and set more effective goals in changing and managing behaviours and improving your special child’s education experience. Attention is also given to refreshing previous course material and expanding on certain areas of that course.
Though the implementation of the Inclusive Education Act has been delayed, Learner Facilitation has become definitely more of a reality in our mainstream schools, requiring better skilled, adept, masterful and expert professional Learner Facilitators to facilitate and assist special needs children.
Teaching Special Needs Children WorkshopSpecial needs children are amongst us. Statistics indicate that 14% of all children have special needs. These are all children that have been identified and diagnosed, implying that the actual number of children with special needs, are much higher. Not all special needs children are recognisable. There is not always physical observable indication of special needs or differences. Behaviour problems, poor co-operation and compliance, hyperactivity, lack of understanding are some of the main manifestations of special needs. Teaching special needs children requires passion, patience, perseverance, a thorough understanding of the special needs child and their functioning/behaviour and special trained skills.
This 3 day workshop endeavours to skill the attendee in teaching the special needs child in an effective way; understanding and considering the child’s needs and functioning ability, setting goals for children and adapting their educational needs, understanding the special needs child better and using practical appropriate techniques to teach the special needs child.
